Loan application declined - Your options

Firstly, a high proportion of loan applications get declined, especially for online loan applications.

Your loan application could have been declined for one of a few reasons:

Loan Affordability

Red Flag Behaviour

Bad Credit Record

Income Source

If your loan application has been declined due to affordability, then you need to be weary of continuing to apply for loans with other Lenders. For two reasons:

1. Multiple applications will affect your credit rating.

2. If you don’t have loan affordability but can find a Lender that will lend to you, this may have a damaging impact on your ability to survive and thrive financially for you and your family.

If you loan has been declined, there are still other options you can look at.

Suppose the item isn’t essential and you are not in hardship, or you are applying for a home loan. In that case, it may be time to take a hard look at how you manage your money and other ways you can get affordability for either a loan or to save up for yourself.

Look at any regular costs you can cut out without exposing yourself to risk (i.e. be wary of cancelling insurances), and then you may be able to reapply again after a few months if you can show you can save. You can get help with this via free or paid Independent Budgeting and Financial Coaching/Mentoring services to assist you on your journey

Alternatively, you may be able to go without, or look at cheaper second-hand options or even free options.

If you are having trouble saving even though you earn a good income, the first item to consider is your Money Personality.  If you are used to spending all your money and have difficulty controlling your spending, it will be difficult to change your behaviour unless you have a motivating goal.  Again, you need to have a good hard look at yourself, and consider that if you want different outcomes with your money, you need to change some habits.
